About Jia Acupuncture & Chinese Herbs
About Jia
Jia Kang, L.Ac., is a licensed acupuncturist in New York since 2004. Jia holds a Master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and a Bachelor's degree in Health Science from Mercy College. Born and raised in Shanghai, China, she worked as a physician of Western Internal Medicine in a medical center treating various diseases for 15 years. When she was interning for her Master's degree in the United States, she worked at New York University's Hospital for Joint Disease, Sound Shore Medical Center, and Lutheran Medical Center. Following that, she has practiced privately in the US for over 19 years.
Combining more than 34 years of experience both in China and the US, she discovered that most diseases stem from stress and are related to one's lifestyle. She uses the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory and method to treat common diseases such as diabetes. Jia is experienced in many areas of ailments including pain management, diabetes, depression, stress, immune system disorders, etc. By combining Western and Eastern medical experiences, her treatment especially focuses on healing not just the body, but also the mind and spirit.
Methodology
Jia has followed in her mother's footsteps - Dr. Hui-Jun Song, who practiced acupuncture and Chinese herbs in the US for more than 30 years. She was also a physician in Western Medicine in China, and one of the very beginning licensed acupuncturist in the US (license No. 110). From Dr. Song, Jia learned secret methods and prescriptions handed down within the family. With this and her own experience, Jia is able to use acupuncture in unique ways, such as performing cosmetic non-surgical face lifting in women and men. By using acupuncture treatments, she also brought more than a dozen healthy "acupuncture babies" into this world. She has also treated some auto-immune diseases successfully.
Goals
Jia's goal is to use the Traditional Chinese Medicine healing method, which has been developed and used for over thousands of years in China. This healing method is primarily used for not just treatment, but also early treatment and prevention of health issues, with the least side effects. Jia uses TCM to help heal and bring balance, promoting a healthy body, mind, and spirit. She hopes that someday, everyone will know and benefit from the wisdom of TCM.
